## HT4 - How to: Safely back up your wallet recovery keys (our recommendations)

**Goal:** This guide outlines some practices of backing up your recovery keys that we are aware of.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Disclaimer:**

The primary objective is to **safeguard your recovery keys** and prevent them from being lost or compromised. This article outlines a number of common practices intended to help you do so. Please note that the list is **non-exhaustive** and should be considered **general suggestions** rather than definitive solutions.

The risk of each method may vary depending on your specific circumstances. It is your responsibility to assess which approach best suits your situation. We **do not accept any liability** for any loss resulting from the use—or misuse—of these methods. Always exercise caution and implement any additional measures you deem necessary to protect your recovery keys.
{% endhint %}

**How to proceed:**

**Step 1:** Retrieve your recovery key for backing up. You can retrieve your key from Coin98 wallet with the following guides: [App](https://docs.coin98.com/products/coin98-super-wallet/mobile/wallet-management/v15-how-to-show-seed-phrase-private-key) | [Extension](https://docs.coin98.com/products/coin98-super-wallet/extension-1/beginners-guide/how-to-show-your-passphrase-again) | [Telegram](https://docs.coin98.com/products/coin98-telegram-wallet/how-to-retrieve-seed-phrase-private-key-on-coin98-telegram-wallet)

**Step 2:** Review different backup methods in the table below, along with their potential risks below.

**Step 3:** Design your own backup solution using combination of different methods. It is good practice that you employ different method types in conjunction. Examples:

* You can break up your keys into different parts (*encrypt*), save a copy of these parts on different papers (*physical*), and another copy on different apps (*digital*).
* You swap (at least 3) words in your recovery keys with their synonyms/ antonyms/ related words (but make sure they are within [BIP39 word list](https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blame/master/bip-0039/english.txt)), e.g. “student” → “pupil” (*encrypt*). Save the encrypted keys on your computer/ phone / cloud (*digital*), but save the decrypt rule in paper (*physical*).

### Backup methods and associated risks

**Note:** This list is non-exhaustive, and should be treated as suggestions only. We are not responsible for any loss you have if follow our methods.

<table data-header-hidden><thead><tr><th width="97"></th><th></th><th></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Type</strong></td><td><strong>Method</strong></td><td><strong>Risk</strong></td></tr><tr><td>Digital</td><td>Simply leave the wallet in the app, with no other backup</td><td>The least secured method, please use other backup methods.</td></tr><tr><td>Digital</td><td>Save in phones/ computer (Notes/ Password Manager app,…)</td><td>Could be breached/ hacked/ lost.</td></tr><tr><td>Digital</td><td>Save on cloud services (iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive,…)</td><td>Could be leaked/ breached.</td></tr><tr><td>Physical</td><td>Note on paper, physical notes</td><td>Could be lost/ leaked/ destroyed.</td></tr><tr><td>Digital</td><td>Use our Cloud Backup feature</td><td>This feature helps you quickly restore multiple wallets, <strong>but</strong> <strong>it must not be your primary backup method.</strong> Please combine with other backup methods.</td></tr><tr><td>Physical</td><td>Save in hardware wallets (Ledger, Trezor,…)</td><td>Could be lost/ leaked/ destroyed.</td></tr><tr><td>Physical</td><td>Save in Zen Card</td><td><strong>Zen Card is not a backup solution</strong>, please use other backup methods.</td></tr><tr><td>Encryption</td><td>Separate your keys into multiple parts, save them distributively</td><td>You forget where you saved different parts.</td></tr><tr><td>Encryption</td><td>Encrypt your keys in a way that only you can understand</td><td>You forget how to decrypt.</td></tr><tr><td></td><td><strong>To be updated…</strong></td><td></td></tr></tbody></table>

## HT6 - How to: Remove then restore your wallet again

**Goal:** This guides you to first remove your wallet, then restores it again.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note**: Make sure you have safely backup your wallet seedphrase before performing this step.
{% endhint %}

**How to proceed:**

**Step 1:** Make sure recovery keys of your wallet is safely backed up. Please refer to **HT4 - How to: Safely back up your wallet recovery keys (our recommendations)**

**Step 2: (Optional)** To ensure your recovery key has been backed up correctly, you can use that key to restore your wallet on other devices or Coin98 Extension.

* Case your wallet address stays the same, the key is correct.
* Case your wallet address changes, please **back up the keys again.**

**Step 3:** [Guide](https://docs.coin98.com/products/coin98-super-wallet/mobile/wallet-management/how-to-rename-remove-wallet#how-to-remove-a-wallet) | Remove your wallet from Coin98 Super Wallet.

**Step 4:** [Guide](https://docs.coin98.com/products/coin98-super-wallet/mobile/wallet-management/v15-how-to-import-multi-chain-wallets-to-coin98-super-wallet) | Restore your wallet with recovery key from **Step 1.** Once done restoring, there are cases that you should check

| **Case**                                                                                          | **Solution**                                                                                                                                                                                                                            |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| EVM and Solana **does not change** | This guide is done, please continue with your transaction/ check steps |
| EVM and Solana **changes**, all of your token balance not display | There seems to be issue with your keys, please refer to guide HT7 for further check |
| EVM addresses remain unchanged, but your Solana address changes and not displaying Solana balance | This is due to different standards. Your Solana wallet could be in Old Standard. **How to resolve:** Simply remove the wallet, then restore again. But this time, access advanced settings and set standard of Solana to “Old Standard” |

## HT7 - How to: Check your recovery keys

**Goal:** This guides you to self check your recovery key to make sure there is no typo mistake.

**How to proceed:** Look carefully at recovery keys (seedphrase) and make sure that:

1. Your seedphrase **contains 12 English words** (or 15/ 18/ 24 words depending on your keys)
2. There is **no special characters** (. , \* / ' ...)
3. There is no additional space between, before, and after words (e.g. “hello news” has 2 spaces between them → Incorrect). Specifically:
   * Each word is separated by one space only.
   * There is no space before the first word.
   * There is no space after the last word.
4. There is no capitalized characters (words should be in form "hello", not "Hello" or "HELLO",...)
5. Ensure that each word is spelled correctly, some words could be confusing such as
   * “color" - "colour" (American - English spelling)
   * "shape" -> "shap" (Wrong spelling)

This is the link of 2048 words used to create Seed Phrase (BIP39): [Link](https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blame/master/bip-0039/english.txt). Visit the link and use the search function for the word that you are suspicious about. If the word you search for does not exist, meaning you spelled it wrong.

6. Ensure that all words are in correct order. e.g. “hello stadium” and “stadium hello” are two different things.

### Or perhaps you used the wrong seed phrase?

7. It's worth double-checking whether you may have used the seed phrase from a different wallet. Some users manage multiple wallets and can accidentally mix up their recovery phrases during the restoration process.

### Or maybe the issue is from our app?

8. If you are having the suspicion that our wallet is not working correctly. Here is the check that you can do it yourself: Copy the example seedphrase below, and use it to restore into our app. → If the Viction wallet address is something like: “*0x344…*”, then our app is functioning normally. You should check your seedphrase again with the steps we laid out above.

Example of a correct seedphrase:

> emotion distance fossil good present ship visit powder crash entry can you

### If You’ve Tried Everything but Still Can’t Access Your Wallet

If you've gone through the recovery process multiple times — carefully checking every word in your seed phrase, verifying that there are no typos, hidden characters, or extra spaces — yet the wallet address remains incorrect and your funds are still missing…

We understand how distressing and frustrating this can be. Many of us have faced similar situations, and we empathize with what you're going through.

That said, please keep in mind:

{% hint style="info" %}
Coin98 Wallet is a non-custodial wallet.

This means **you are the sole owner and guardian of your recovery keys.** Coin98 does not store, manage, or have access to users' private keys or wallets.

As a result, **we are unable to retrieve or restore lost keys in any circumstance.**
{% endhint %}

If possible, we strongly encourage you to recheck any locations or backups where your recovery phrase may have been stored — a second look might help you find the correct phrase.

## HT8 - How to: Check a transaction

**Goal:** This guides you check a transaction on blockchain explorer.

**How to proceed**:

**Step 1 - Access token history:** In Coin98 Super Wallet app > Main wallet tab > Click on the token that you want to check its transaction. You will see the token transaction history.

**Step 2 - Access blockchain explorer:** Click on the transaction that you want to inspect. There are 2 ways that you can check:

* First option: You can look for a button with logo that has a magnifying glass element 🔍, usually it resides on top-right of the screen. Click on that logo to be redirected to the blockchain explorer page
* Second option:
  * First, look for fields with name “**Transaction Hash**” (Sometimes it could be “**Transaction ID”, “Tx Hash”**,… They mean the same thing).
  * Then you can copy the hash (Usually it is a hex string like this: *0xfe8399758342f2fd8f0f413e3a9267ee94b6a6167835ae1f2ccf4ba1b2c081aa*)
  * Lastly, paste that hash into the blockchain’s explorer webpage. You can refer to [List of blockchain, its native token, and explorer](https://github.com/coin98/documentation/blob/docs_coin98/products/troubleshoot/How%20to%2022b83b174c198006b332f2e3c50ab901.md)

**Step 3 - Check for the field you care about:** There are many fields in the blockchain explorer page, here are simple explanations of the fields. Take [this transaction](https://www.vicscan.xyz/tx/0xfe8399758342f2fd8f0f413e3a9267ee94b6a6167835ae1f2ccf4ba1b2c081aa) for example. You can read explanation of each field in the table below

<table data-header-hidden><thead><tr><th width="136"></th><th></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Field</strong></td><td><strong>Description</strong></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Transaction ID</strong></td><td>Unique identifier (TxID) of the transaction. Used to look up and verify the transaction on the blockchain.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Type</strong></td><td>The nature of the transaction. For example, <code>Transfer</code> means sending tokens from one address to another.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Status</strong></td><td>Indicates whether the transaction was successful or failed.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Timestamp</strong></td><td>The exact date and time the transaction was confirmed on the blockchain.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Block</strong></td><td>The block number in which the transaction was included. Also shows how many blocks have been mined since (confirmations).</td></tr><tr><td><strong>From</strong></td><td>The sender's wallet address (the one that initiated the transaction).</td></tr><tr><td><strong>To</strong></td><td>The recipient's wallet address (the one receiving the token or coin).</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Value</strong></td><td>Shows the transferred amount and token symbol (e.g., <code>0.0001 VIC</code>).</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Fee</strong></td><td>The total amount paid to process the transaction (gas used × gas price). Paid in the native token (e.g., VIC).</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Fee Payer</strong></td><td>The address that paid the transaction fee (usually the sender).</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Gas Price</strong></td><td>The price per unit of gas in Gwei (1 Gwei = 10⁻⁹ token). This determines how fast and costly the transaction is.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Gas Limit &#x26; Usage</strong></td><td>Gas Limit: max gas allocated for the transaction. Usage: actual gas consumed. (E.g., 21,000/21,000 = 100% usage).</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Nonce</strong></td><td>Nonce number of account in this transaction</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Position</strong></td><td>The transaction's position within the block (not always shown).</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Input Data</strong></td><td>Extra data attached to the transaction. Usually empty or minimal for simple transfers. Can contain encoded info in contract calls or smart contracts.</td></tr></tbody></table>

## List of blockchains, its native token and explorer

**Note**: This is non-exhaustive list. In case a blockchain is not present, do your own search with queries:

* "*What is native token of \<block\_chain>*" for **Native Token**
* "*What is blockchain explorer of \<block\_chain>*" for **Blockchain Explorer**

> Example: Google "\*What is native token of Viction", "What is blockchain explorer of Viction"

What each fields mean?

* BLOCKCHAIN: Blockchain's name
* NATIVE\_TOKEN: Native token of the blockchain
* EXPLORER: Link of blockchain explorer
