Thời hạn giao dịch là thời gian tối đa cho 1 giao dịch được xử lý, tránh trường hợp chờ đợi quá lâu mà giao dịch vẫn không được thực hiện.

Ví dụ: hiện tại trên Ethereum, khi có quá nhiều giao dịch cần được xử lí hoặc thị trường gặp biến động mạnh, thời gian giao dịch chênh lệch nhau rất lớn, nhanh thì trong vòng 30s, chậm thì tầm 15 - 20 phút hoặc thậm chí đến vài giờ. Khi cài đặt tính năng Thời hạn giao dịch 15 phút, khi quá số thời gian này, giao dịch sẽ tự động hủy nếu không thực hiện được.
